BreastLift

Gravity, aging, heredity, weight fluctuations, pregnancy, and breastfeeding are all factors that can influence the contour and firmness of the breasts. The breast lift (“mastopexy”) is a surgical procedure designed to correct sagging breasts by lifting them to a more youthful position. Breast lift surgery is typically performed on an outpatient basis with the use of intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. For those who also wish to increase the size of their breasts, a breast augmentation can be performed along with this procedure.

Best Candidates for Breast Lift

The best candidates for the breast lift procedure can relate to one or more of the following conditions:

  • Sagging breasts
  • Elongated or pendulous breasts
  • Nipples that fall below the breast crease
  • Stretched skin and enlarged areolas

Breast Lift Techniques

Partial Breast Lift

A partial mastopexy provides a slight lift to the breast. This technique involves an incision above the areola. The skin and tissues are adjusted to enhance breast shape, and the areola is moved upward to provide a more youthful appearance.

Benelli Lift

The Benelli Lift (donut lift) involves an incision around the areola. Excess skin around the border of the areola is removed, and the nipple is moved to a higher position on the breast. Any excess tissue is removed, and incisions are closed with sutures.

Lollipop Lift (Circumvertical)

The lollipop lift involves the same circumferential incision as the Benelli Lift, but it also includes a vertical incision from the bottom of the areola to the breast crease. This allows further adjustments to be made to improve the shape of the breast. The areola is repositioned, and excess skin and breast tissue are removed.

Anchor Lift (Inverted “T”)

The general breast lift is for women who have breasts with an excess amount of sagging. It uses the incision of lollipop lifts along with an incision beneath the breast. The three incisions together form an anchor shape. Dr. Conrad will lift and shape the underlying breast tissue and secure it with layered sutures. Excess skin and tissue are removed, and the areola is repositioned to a more natural height on the breast.

Recovery Time

Dr. Conrad will give you specific postoperative instructions to accelerate the healing process and reduce the risk of infection. The length of recovery time varies among patients, but most can resume regular activity after two weeks. Patients can usually resume high-impact exercise about six weeks after surgery.
