Posted on: June 25th, 2018 by admin

A pouty lip has become a hallmark of sensuality and sexiness, leading more and more women to attempt to imitate that look. Dr. Conrad offers different techniques for lip augmentation out of his Wichita, Kansas office. The technique used is determined by whether the patient wants fuller lips or their border back and lines softened. Lip augmentation is an effective way to plump your lips and give you the pout you desire.

Dermal Filler

Dermal fillers, like Restylane® and JUVÉDERM®, are non-surgical procedures that are performed in the office. You are a strong candidate if you’re in good health. Dr. Conrad’s certified RNs will consult with you and make a recommendation on which method is the most appropriate to meet your expectations and treatment goals.

On the day of your procedure, one of Dr. Conrad’s three trained and certified nurses will inject a dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid into your lips. Hyaluronic acid is naturally occurring in your body and aids in the health of your skin. The procedure will only take a few moments, and you are free to resume your daily activities immediately following your visit.

After a dermal filler injection, your results will be almost immediate. However, you will likely experience some swelling for a couple of days, so your full results may not be completely obvious for several days. Both Restylane® and JUVÉDERM® will usually last eight to 12 months.

Adding volume to your lips is a quick and minimally invasive way to dramatically change the appearance of your face.

Breast Lift Techniques

Posted on: April 16th, 2018 by admin

Conrad Breast Lift Patient Before and AfterWhile sagging breasts are a fact of life for many women, it is not something you have to settle for. Many factors can lead to breast sagging (ptosis), including pregnancy, weight loss, and aging. However, a breast lift (mastopexy) can give you a more youthful appearance by raising your breasts to a higher position on your chest. Dr. Conrad utilizes multiple techniques when performing breast lift surgery; the specific technique used for your procedure will be determined during your consultation. The technique used can depend on such factors as the severity of your ptosis, your desired result, and the anatomy of your breast.

Grades of Breast Ptosis

There are three grades of breast ptosis, and the specific grade affects the technique that Dr. Conrad will use during your procedure. During your consultation, he will examine your breast and the degree of sagging you are experiencing. He will use this information to determine which technique would be most effective for meeting your treatment goals.

Grade 1: Mild

If the nipple falls to the bottom crease of the breast (also called the inframammary fold), then you have mild ptosis.

Grade 2: Mild to Moderate

This ptosis is characterized by the nipple falling 1 to 3 centimeters below the inframammary fold.

Grade 3: Severe

This is indicated when the nipple falls more than 3 centimeters below the fold.

Procedure Options

During your consultation with Dr. Conrad, he will discuss which of the following techniques is most suitable to your specific goals.

For small breasts and/or minor ptosis:

  • Partial Lift: Gives a slight lift to the breast, making it most suitable for those women with mild ptosis. Dr. Conrad will make an incision above the areola and shift the areola upward. He will also adjust the skin and tissue to enhance the shape of the breast.
  • Benelli Lift: Also known as a donut lift, Dr. Conrad makes an incision around the areola, removing any excess skin from this location. The nipple is also moved higher up on the breast.

For larger breasts and moderate to severe ptosis:

  • Lollipop Lift: This is similar to the Benelli Lift (with the incision around the areola), but Dr. Conrad will also make an incision down the midline of the breast to the inframammary fold. This causes the incision to resemble a lollipop. The larger incision with this technique allows for greater adjustment of skin and tissue.
  • Anchor Technique: This is also known as the inverted-T. It is similar to the lollipop lift in that the incision resembles a lollipop, but it also includes an incision along the inframammary fold. These incisions resemble an anchor, and it gives Dr. Conrad the greatest access to shape the breast tissue. Additionally, it is most suitable for larger breasts with an excess amount of sagging.

How Do Soft Tissue Fillers Work?

Posted on: February 6th, 2018 by Mathew Conrad

Beautiful Young Woman with Clean Fresh Skin touch own faceWrinkles and lines on the face can make you appear older than you are. Though there are a number of reasons these lines appear, the good news is that there are minimally invasive options to treat them. If you’re looking to regain a younger-looking face or rejuvenate your skin, Dr. Conrad has multiple dermal filler options for you to consider.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

A dermal filler is an injectable solution used to correct wrinkles, lines, or creases. This treatment can restore facial contours in places where a lack of fat has caused a sunken or flat look, such as your cheeks. Some fillers can even be used to add volume to your lips.

Filler Options

Dr. Conrad’s office offers multiple filler options, each targeting different areas of the face. Prior to your procedure, you will consult with a Certified Nurse Injector to review your treatment goals. She will evaluate your face and skin to determine which filler (or fillers) would be most appropriate for you.

Lip Enhancement

Dr. Conrad uses Restylane-L® and JUVÉDERM® XC dermal filler for lip enhancement procedures. These options are composed of a synthetic form of the hyaluronic acid that occurs naturally in our bodies. Hyaluronic acid keeps skin hydrated, giving a youthful look. Lidocaine can be used during your treatment to keep you comfortable.

Line and Wrinkle Reduction

Restylane-L®, Restylane® Lyft, JUVÉDERM® XC, and RADIESSE® are used to reduce wrinkles, lines, and creases in your face. The filler is injected below the targeted area. It fills the space, expanding and plumping the skin to smooth out wrinkles and creases.

Restoring Facial Volume

Sculptra® Aesthetic is designed to restore lost facial volume. With lost volume comes flat cheeks and more pronounced wrinkles. This injectable treatment stimulates collagen production in your face to help restore fullness to your cheeks and in turn, remove wrinkles. This treatment typically requires two to three injections with long-lasting results.

What Can You Expect?

The actual treatment session is very quick, though this depends on how many treatment sites and how many different fillers you are receiving. You may experience some swelling or bruising, but this should pass quickly. Although dermal fillers do not require any downtime, you may want to take it easy for a few days. Fillers are temporary treatments with results lasting anywhere from six months to two years. Dr. Conrad will provide you with more specific information regarding the longevity of results.

Wake Up Your Droopy Eyes With Blepharoplasty

Posted on: January 18th, 2018 by Mathew Conrad

Eye bags before and after cosmetic treatmentDroopy, sagging eyelids can give you a sleepy, worn appearance. Even after a full night’s rest or a relaxing vacation, you may still look like you’ve just pulled an all-nighter. Blepharoplasty can brighten and refresh your appearance so that you don’t look fatigued all the time. This surgery for your eyelids can rejuvenate your whole face and give you a more awake and youthful look.

What Is Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty is a plastic surgery procedure that addresses aging, sagging tissue in the eyelids. It can be performed to rejuvenate either the upper or lower eyelids or both together. Also called an eyelid lift or eyelid surgery, blepharoplasty removes redundant eyelid skin and repositions or removes fat to correct bags, puffiness, wrinkles, and drooping in the eye area.

What Can Blepharoplasty Correct?

Blepharoplasty can rejuvenate the eyes to improve a perpetually tired, angry, or sad appearance. Specifically, eyelid surgery can correct the following:

  • Droopy upper eyelids
  • Upper eyelid hooding that impairs vision
  • Puffy upper eyelids
  • Bags under the eyes
  • Grooves under the eyes
  • Drooping lower eyelids
  • Loose skin around the eyes
  • Fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes

What Is It Like to Undergo Blepharoplasty?

After administering either general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation, your surgeon will begin the procedure. Depending on whether you undergo an upper blepharoplasty, lower blepharoplasty, or both, incisions will be inconspicuously placed in the natural creases of the upper eyelids, below the lower lash line, or inside the lower eyelids. Your surgeon will remove excess skin and reposition or remove fat deposits to rejuvenate your eyes. After one to three hours, the procedure will end, and you will return home. After a short recovery of five to seven days, you should be able to return to work. As your swelling subsides, you will see a noticeable improvement in how refreshed and youthful you look. The results of blepharoplasty will not only brighten your eyes but will revitalize your entire face.

Can I Get a Tummy Tuck if I’ve Never Been Pregnant?

Posted on: December 22nd, 2017 by Mathew Conrad

Tummy Tuck Before and After PhotosWomen who have never had children of their own are not immune to the effects of aging and weight gain. A troublesome tummy does not have to endure pregnancy to accumulate stubborn fat, develop excess skin, and lose abdominal muscle tone. Even if you have never been pregnant, you could be a candidate for tummy tuck surgery. In fact, men can also be excellent candidates for tummy tuck surgery.

Candidates for Tummy Tuck Surgery

It is true that likely candidates for tummy tuck surgery are women who have been pregnant, especially women who have been pregnant multiple times or have given birth to twins, triplets, etc. But any woman or man with stubborn fat deposits, weak abdominal wall muscles, excess skin, and stretch marks in the abdominal area could be a candidate for this procedure. Candidates may include people who have excess skin and loose stomach muscles due to weight loss as well as individuals who have accumulated stubborn fat and sagging skin due to aging. If you have struggled to reach your goals of a toned, firm, and flat abdomen through diet and exercise, schedule a consultation for tummy tuck surgery. For physically healthy adult candidates from all walks of life, a tummy tuck can eliminate the excess tissue and tighten the stomach muscles to restore a youthful, attractive midsection.

Tummy Tuck Options

Depending on your circumstances, either a full or mini tummy tuck could be best for you. A full traditional tummy tuck is more often performed on women who have been pregnant but may also be recommended for men or women who have lost a significant amount of weight. This technique can correct excessive amounts of skin and fat accompanied by loosened abdominal muscles. It addresses problems in the upper and lower abdomen and can dramatically improve abdominal contour. A mini tummy tuck addresses contour issues in the lower abdomen only by removing excess skin and fat tissue. This technique may be more appropriate for individuals who have lost a minor or moderate amount of weight or who have experienced significant skin laxity due to aging. Whichever technique is recommended to you, you can look forward to an attractively flat, tight abdomen and satisfying results.
