Looking in the mirror and seeing that your breasts have lost fullness and are sagging lower than they used to can have a significant effect on your confidence. You may want to boost your cleavage and the volume of your breasts, but feel conflicted because perhaps implants alone won’t address sagging. Or, you may have considered a breast lift only to realize it won’t restore the volume you’ve lost over the years.

The solution? Combining breast augmentation with a breast lift addresses both concerns with one procedure, creating breasts that are fuller, more lifted, and better balanced with your figure.

Why Should I Combine a Breast Lift With My Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation restores volume by placing implants, while a breast lift elevates your existing breast tissue and repositions your nipples to a more youthful location. When performed together, these procedures create breasts that are not only fuller but also firmer, perkier, and better proportioned to your body.

Combining your breast augmentation with a breast lift allows Dr. Conrad to address multiple cosmetic concerns during a single surgery, eliminating the need for separate recovery periods and creating more comprehensive, long-lasting results.

Breast Implant Options

Dr. Conrad offers several implant options, and the best choice for you depends on your anatomy, desired results, and lifestyle.

Saline Implants

Saline implants are silicone shells filled with sterile saltwater after placement, allowing for smaller incisions and slight volume adjustments during surgery. If a saline implant ruptures (which is uncommon), your body safely absorbs the saline solution.

Silicone Implants

Silicone implants are filled with a cohesive silicone gel designed to closely mimic the look and feel of your natural breast tissue. They are an excellent choice if you want soft, natural-looking breast enhancement.

Sientra® Silicone Implants

Sientra® silicone implants are filled with a high-strength cohesive gel that provides a natural feel while helping maintain implant shape. Sientra® offers a variety of implant profiles and sizes, allowing for a completely customized approach to your breast enhancement.

Breast Lift Options

There are several breast lift techniques available, and Dr. Conrad determines which one to use based on the degree of sagging (also called ptosis).

Partial Lift

A partial lift addresses very mild sagging by making limited adjustments to your breast tissue and nipple position. It is often combined with implants for subtle volume enhancement.

Benelli Lift

Also called a periareolar or donut lift, this technique uses an incision around the edge of your areola to minimize visible scarring. This technique is appropriate for correcting mild breast ptosis.

Lollipop Lift

The lollipop lift combines the periareolar incision with a vertical incision extending down your breast to the crease where the breast meets the chest wall. It is used to address moderate sagging and allows for more extensive reshaping.

Anchor Lift

For significant breast ptosis, the anchor lift adds a horizontal incision along the breast crease in addition to the lollipop pattern. This technique provides the greatest degree of lifting and contouring while also removing excess skin.

When combining a breast lift with breast augmentation, you may need additional support, especially when your breast tissue has been significantly stretched or weakened. In these cases, Dr. Conrad may recommend GalaFLEX® GalaForm3D mesh.

This bioresorbable “scaffold” acts as an internal bra, providing extra support for your breast tissue and implants while your body heals. Over time, the mesh is gradually absorbed and replaced by your own strengthened collagen, helping reinforce the lower part of your breasts and providing support to extend the life of your breast lift and augmentation.

What Is the Recovery Process Like When Combining Breast Augmentation With a Breast Lift?

Because both the lift and augmentation are completed during a single surgery, you’ll recover from them simultaneously. You will experience swelling, bruising, and soreness during the first week or so, although any discomfort is easily managed with prescription or over-the-counter medications. You will also wear a special surgical bra to help minimize swelling and support your newly lifted and shaped breasts during healing.

Many patients return to desk work within one to two weeks; however, strenuous exercise and heavy lifting must be avoided for approximately four to six weeks. As swelling gradually resolves over the following months, your breasts will settle into their final position, revealing restored volume, improved shape, and a more youthful contour.
